24-year-old Shynggyskhan Tazhibay is not only from the same hometown as reigning WBA and IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, he used to train in the same gym as “Triple G” when he was a junior boxer coming up in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. Shynggyskhan followed closely in his footsteps over the years, and in 2014 finished an outstanding amateur career that consisted of 84 fights and 73 wins. 20 of those bouts took place since relocating to the United States in 2013, a move made to better chances as professional.
Those chances increased exponentially when he was brought in by highly regarded trainer Barry Hunter and the Headbangers Gym in Washington, D.C., who have molded him into a bonafide blue-chip prospect. After making his professional debut in July of 2015, knocking out Brad Sustad in the first round, “Chingiz” enters 2016 with a record of 2-0 with two knockouts.
